Kingley Vale NNR, West Stoke, West Sussex
Today we headed to the other side of the county, some 60 miles from home, to Kingley Vale National Nature Reserve near Chichester. Car fully loaded up with 2 large dogs, one 2 year old little girl, a wife and a picnic for good measure. On the way down in looked like we were destined for a good soaking as the rain wouldn't let up. But we were quite lucky and only ended up with a few showers whilst walking round. We decided to take the smaller Nature Trail walk and it was really nice, but with a buggy it was really hard work, but worth it for the views. We met some really nice people and I got some shots for the project, so all in all a successful day. The nature reserve houses the largest yew forest in western Europe. The trees looked really nice with rain on the bark. This image is a broken branch from one of the ancient yew trees, and yes that really is the colour it was!
